Explore some of Athens' independent art scene in the Warehouse District. Located on the Eastern edge of downtown, the district is home to many art galleries and dance studios. The area is great for free entertainment, including my favorite hobby- people watching!
Perhaps the area's greatest draw, & most famous venue, ATHICA: the Athens Institute for Contemporary Art exhibits a variety of thought-provoking & controversial pieces (the photo for this blog post is from an ATHICA exhibit).
Currently on display at ATHICA through November 8 is the Free Press in Free Fall exhibit. According to their Web site, the exhibit from 13 artists "asks how we- as citizens of the digital age- engage responsibly in a dialogue with our press."
Gallery hours are Thursday, 6-9 p.m. Friday-Sunday, 1-6 p.m. & by appointment.
Admission is free.
